The Vogel family is gearing up for a 2.5 year tour from Alaska to Argentina. With kids. And a dog. Actually, they sound like super cool people and the life experience that their kids are getting simply can’t be matched in a school setting.
They’ve got a dog, though, and they’ve been researching how to take the dog on long trips. Apparently small dogs should ride up front, presumably in a basket or something. Never knew that.
If you’ve ever considered taking Fido along, this is a post worth reading. Especially since there’s a nice little roundup of other folks who’ve also done longer trips with their dogs.

I couldn’t agree with you more that our kids are getting life experiences unparalled in a school setting! They are so excited to hit the road they can barely wait (not to mention my husband and I!). And Dash? He LURVES his bike rides!
Just wanted to write and say “Thanks” for the writeup about us - we appreciate it!
