Modular Cargo Rig

Hey, thanks for stopping by! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the RSS feed. You can also subscribe to BikeHacks by email. Thanks for visiting!

Quick pointer to a great bike hack over at BikeCommuters.com. The picture pretty much says it all, but basically you cobble together a spare seatpost, saddle, seapost-mounted rack, and some panniers.

Bingo, you’ve got a hot-swappable cargo module. Keep your bike free of cargo cruft until you need it, then drop in this modular cargo rig.

Extra bike hack points for the seatpost collar mounted low on the post as a slide stop!

Extra points for me! I use a TransIt seat post rack on a 56cm frame. It works great. I use shopping bag panniers when I go to the grocery store and I throw the whole rig, seat and all under the shopping cart. It usually confuses the poor kid bagging groceries, so I usually volunteer to do it myself. The only problem is, that sometimes my heels hit the bags when I’m riding.
