Customizing your ride can be a cool way to express your personality, political views, or hair brained concept of what is cool. Many riders are a bit too anal to actually put a sticker on their frame, but spoke cards are an easy way to express yourself without the fear of commitment. If you do get bored with your card(s) or perhaps change your political views, just take them out.

There are several methods one can take create spoke cards. Using an actual lamination machine will probably give you the most refined looking cards like on this bike.

Or you can ditch protective coating all together and just cut your picture of choice out and stick it in your spokes. This dude who lives a few blocks from me seems to have an infatuation with a particular bra model.

Me? I make my own spoke cards using my printer and packaging tape. A Barack Obama card I made is featured in the Wheel of Fire Entry I posted a while back. My advice in making your own card with packaging tape is to ensure that your card is a little stiff. For my Obama card, I printed the image twice, cut both out, and glued each picture to the front and back of a piece of medium weight card stock, then covered it with tape.

I did the same recently for a “01-20-2009″ spoke card. Can’t wait until January! Below are the simple instructions.

Print the image twice.

Glue it to some card stock to give it some stiffness.

Cover front and back with tape.

Rock it loud and proud.
