Bike Blender: DIY or $$

It’s summer time and for many that means frozen drinks. What better way to have a nice mixed drink than to do the blending yourself? Like many other things in life, you can choose to be creative (i.e. cheap, inexpensive, thrifty, etc.) or you can drop down a wad of cash or use your credit card to get immediate lip smacking satisfaction.

For those who choose the creative pathway, instructables provides instructions on building your own bike blender for $25 or less. For the full tutorial go here.

If you perhaps have more money than time and patience, you can buy a bike blender for a tidy sum of $249 over on The Juice Peddler website. On a side note, how do you fit hair like that under a helmet?

There’s a bar here in brooklyn called Havana Outpost. It’s very green–solar power, compostable corn-based plastic cups, reclaimed rainwater, etc.

Best of all, if you order a frozen drink, it’s made with a bike powered blender–$5 if they pedal, or only $4 if you pedal for yourself.

Wow, quite an invention. Although I have to admit that I am not much of a juice person. What I could really do with would be a bicycle powered mini-bar so I could keep my beer cold.

Awesome, I’ve seen the $249 blender but never thought about making my own!
