Hey, thanks for stopping by! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the RSS feed. You can also subscribe to BikeHacks by email. Thanks for visiting!

It is estimated that there are 600 million passenger cars in the world. The automobile industry dominates the realm of television advertising and modern society is built around the internal combustion engine. Perhaps you did not know that there are an estimated 1 billion bicycles in the world! That’s right, bicycles far outnumber cars, but when was the last time you saw a bicycle commercial?

This blog is about reclaiming your youth and realizing that sometimes childhood ambitions need to take a front seat in our adult lives. Who among you out there did not want a bike when you were a kid? Sure there were skateboards, Big Wheels, and roller skates, but what wheeled transport was more desired than any other? What toy gave you the joy comparable to riding your bike for the first time without training wheels?

Hearken back to the day when you begged your parents for a bike. It appeared at a birthday party or under the Christmas tree and you rode the thing until your legs practically fell off. If this didn’t happen to you, close your eyes and imagine the joy! The joy can still be yours! Just because you are all grown up and responsible does not mean the bicycle should not occupy a place in your life.

Bikes do not rule the world like the automobile, but they should! Bicycles should continue to be a source of inspiration and perspiration. They are green, lean, transportation machines! Consider this blog a commercial for the child that wants to escape. The bicycle is just waiting for you to embrace it again. And if you already have seen the light, there will be lots of sweet ideas here. Thanks for coming!
