Cateye Light Hack: Wheel of Fire!

A plethora of lighting options can be found on the market for the front and rear of your ride, but I have found offerings for the sides of a bike to be lacking. Sure motorists, pedestrians, and other cyclists are MOST likely to see your front or rear, but you want to be as visible as possible and thus side view lighting is a good idea.

A while back I posted an entry about the Cateye LD100. It’s a little light that is water resistant and activated with a magnet. It comes in a small package but produces a good amount of light and features three modes. With some Velcro and glue, it’s easy to make the Cateye LD100 into an effective wheel light that can make you more visible on the road.

I have become a huge fan of Gorilla Glue. I put a little on the back of some Velcro and then attached the opposing sides to the light and the spoke reflector.

Slap the light on the reflector, activate, and spin your way to visibility. Okay, so it’s not a wheel of fire, but that sounded more catchy than a wheel light. Watch the video for a test drive.
