Hey, thanks for stopping by! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the RSS feed. You can also subscribe to BikeHacks by email. Thanks for visiting!
Hey! It’s been a little while since we fired up BikeHacks and I figured it’s probably time for a proper open house tour of the place. Let’s start back at the beginning a bit, shall we?
Matt and I (Bren) write this thing. We’ve got little blurbs about us over on the About page, but here’s a little extra. Matt’s in NYC and I’m in Portland. Matt and I met as classmates when we were both MBA students. Now we both work as university administrators. Matt’s been a pretty hardcore bike commuter ever since moving to NYC a few years ago. He’d post little tips and tricks on his blog about how he pimped out his ride, and he’d nag me a bit about not riding more. I finally took the hint and started commuting to work a bit. And Matt’s blog posts about bike tips started becoming more meaningful. I hit him up with the idea for this blog, and we were off to the races!
We’re really interested in tapping into the broader biking brain, and mirroring some of that knowledge over here. We also want to be as collaborative as we can, so we’ve set up a few of ways to interact with BikeHacks. As you might’ve noted over there on the sidebar, we’ve set up a BikeHacks group on Flickr. Feel free to join the group or just drop in pictures of your hacked setup. Not much conversation going on over there–we’re more about the pics and less about the talk.
Another way you can interact with BikeHacks is to drop links in the “Bike Hackery Links” section over there on the sidebar. That section is powered by the “bikehacks” tag on del.icio.us. If you already use del.icio.us as an online bookmarking service, just add the “bikehacks” tag to stuff that you want to share. If you haven’t used del.icio.us before, give it a try. Accounts are free and it’s a reliable service (owned by Yahoo.com). If you have questions about it, just drop ‘em in the comments and I’ll try to help you out.
Finally, down at the bottom of the page about us, you’ll find a contact form. That form goes to both of us, and we’d love to hear your suggestions, tips, or offers to guest post. If you’d rather just hit us up directly on email, shoot a note to team[at]bikehacks[dot]com.
We’ve also tried to be as flexible as possible in the ways that you can get your daily fix of BikeHacks. There are three ways to consume BikeHacks (hey, you’re using one of them now!): on the web at bikehacks.com, via RSS at http://feeds.feedburner.com/bikehacks, or subscribe via email. The RSS and email options are also listed on the sidebar of the blog.
Whew! That’s a lot of stuff for one post, but I hope it’s helps add some context around what we’re doing here. We’re super stoked about the blog, we’re learning a ton, and we hope the same goes for you.
